‘Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)’ means responsibility of any producer of electrical or electronic equipment for meeting recycling targets only through registered recyclers of E-Waste to ensure environmentally sound management of such waste.

  • Registration: The Manufacturer, producer, refurbisher and recycler are required to register on the portal which is developed by the Central Pollution Control Board for the purposes of these rules. In case any entity falls in more than one categories as above then the entity has to register under those categories separately.
  • Target Fulfilment: Manufacturer and producer are required to obtain extended producer responsibility targets through the portal as applicable to them.
  • Compliance: The Manufacturer, producer, refurbisher and recycler are required to file annual returns on centralized EPR portal quarterly, failure to comply with the CPCB EPR guidelines can result in penalties and legal action.
